Let Me Introduce You To:

Filip is totally restored from the coma but still having leukemia. He tells, with shining eyes, about his experience while in the coma. "It was so lovely during that time" he said, "I was weightless and floating". There was a tone almost of regret that he had awakened.
Meet Robert, his mother takes him on his wheelchair to whichever therapy room will give him the treatment he needs. He smiles shyly
as I offer him a choice of books to colour or to read. Mother looks resigned as she tells me she has little hope that he will walk since he has serious spine trouble. He is so happy to receive that book and
crayons.

Coming along the corridor are a sister and brother Alina and Eduard. Alina has spondolitis which makes her look older than her eleven years. She bounces over to me as she has seen me distribute books, but no she longs for a doll and, luckily, I have her "treasure" in my bag. Her brother, glad to see his sister so happy, has a question mark evident on his face - "what have you got for me?". Luckily, this thirteen year old boy looked into a bag of clothes not books. There was such a warm and woolly jacket - a perfect fit for him. Like his sister, he is ill and has a bone problem in his face. He is thrilled with his jacket as mother (who is very poor) has come to take them home for a week. Luckily we can help with the cost of tickets for all three. Mama smiles her gratitude.
An amazing case is that of Andreea. She is a fourteen year old girl who is traumatized by a serious car-crash when her parents were both killed. How much she remembers of the accident we don't know
but her grandparents take turns in looking after her. Like all fourteen year old girls Andreea loves perfume and jewellery. She smiles a little and shows her gratitude yet, so far has not spoken a word.
